Planets of alien stars

Now we prove the existence of 1783 planets in 1105 planetary systems. And the number of candidates is approaching three thousand. All in all, scientists assume that in our galaxy the milky Way is at least 100 billion exoplanets!

People have long realized that other stars, like the Sun, can have their own planet. And even gave them the name exoplanets or extrasolar planets, i.e. planets outside our Solar system. But to verify the existence of such planets a science was only in the late 1980s. Now it is proved the existence of 1783 planets in 1105 planetary systems. And the number of candidates is approaching three thousand. All in all, scientists assume that in our galaxy the milky Way is at least 100 billion exoplanets. 5-20 billion of them earth-like. Some of the most remarkable exoplanets.

Minitems, that is, exoplanets, which are less in size small even our Earth, Kepler-42 d (also known as KOI-961 d) revolves around the star Kepler-42 in the constellation Cygnus. The radius of the planet is just 0,57 ± 0,18 from the earth’s mass and less than 90 % of the mass of our planet. One year, one revolution around its star, Kepler-42 d lasts for less than 2 earth days.

The letter d in the title reports knows that the star found at least two planets that are marked b S. and the star mark the letter a. Companions little too small, but still a little more of our baby. Because the letters in the name give as open, it follows a logical conclusion that the smallest was hidden from astronomers longer than its larger neighbor.

Planet b of the star HD 209458 (the constellation Pegasus) has a proper name – the Osiris. Astronomers call Osiris melting the planet, and they are right: the distance from Osiris to her red-hot stars only, only 5 million kilometers, which is less than 1/10 of the distance of mercury from the Sun. Because of this, Osiris is constantly losing its substance. Another nickname of Osiris – planet-comet: it stretches from the tail gases of the atmosphere. By the way, the atmosphere of Osiris highly volatile due to the fact that the planet facing the star is only one side, there is uneven heating of the hemispheres. This causes the vortices at a velocity of 2 km/h. Despite the constant “freezing” for the future of the planet don’t worry. At least for the near future – at the current rate of reduction in the mass of the planet that will last for a trillion years.

Around the star WASP-17 in the constellation of the Scorpion planet WASP-17 b. And not just rotates, and in the direction opposite to the rotation of the star itself. Such a movement in an orbit, astronomers call retrograde.

WASP-17 b is the retrograde of the first discovered in the universe. But this is not the only record of this exoplanets. Its diameter is greater than that of the other open exoplanets: he is twice the diameter of Jupiter. But its mass only half of Jupiter. Therefore, WASP-17 b is considered the loose planet. Its average density is around 0.1 g/cm3, i.e. ten times less than the density of water. For comparison: the density of Saturn – the planet loose in the Solar system – 6 times more.

Many stars and planets were discovered using the space telescope “Kepler”, so in their name and include the name of the great astronomer. Planet Kepler-10 b is a star in the constellation of the Dragon. The planet’s density is 8.8 g/cm3, and scientists believe that it is an iron planet. As a planet revolves around its star in about 20 hours and the earth in an orbit 20 times smaller than that of mercury, it pretty much glows. The temperature at the daytime side about 1500 °C. this means that iron planet is liquid, i.e. molten.

At 127 light years from the Sun in the southern constellation Hydra shining star HD 10180. Star like a star: yellow dwarf, 6% heavier than the Sun. However, the number of planets it occupies the second place after our planetary system. Spinning around HD 10180 planets as much as 5 naturopathic, satanophobia plus one, plus one, similar in size to the Earth. So each of the seven exoplanets of star HD 10180 flies in an orbit at a large company.

As you know, the biggest planet in the Solar system is Jupiter. Among the exoplanets are also found jupitermedia giants. For example, WASP-33 b (HD 15082 b) that and weight, and in size even slightly larger than Jupiter. It revolves, as the name suggests, around the star HD 15082 in the constellation Andromeda. But it does so at a very small distance – just two hundredths of the distance of the Earth from the Sun. Such close neighbourhood leads to the fact that the planet’s temperature 3200°C. And this is still the record among planets already discovered.

Planets-the gas giants are, as a rule, for the most part, of hydrogen. And helium as a secondary component. But there are white dwarf stars that have processed all the hydrogen into helium and a star system the hydrogen is absent. Astronomers believe that the planet may well be formed without hydrogen. Such planets include GD 66 b the star-white dwarf GD 66 in the constellation of the Charioteer.
