Planets of alien stars

Now we prove the existence of 1783 planets in 1105 planetary systems. And the number of candidates is approaching three thousand. All in all, scientists assume that in our galaxy the milky Way is at least 100 billion exoplanets!

People have long realized that other stars, like the Sun, can have their own planet. And even gave them the name exoplanets or extrasolar planets, i.e. planets outside our Solar system. But to verify the existence of such planets a science was only in the late 1980s. Now it is proved the existence of 1783 planets in 1105 planetary systems. And the number of candidates is approaching three thousand. All in all, scientists assume that in our galaxy the milky Way is at least 100 billion exoplanets. 5-20 billion of them earth-like. Some of the most remarkable exoplanets.

Minitems, that is, exoplanets, which are less in size small even our Earth, Kepler-42 d (also known as KOI-961 d) revolves around the star Kepler-42 in the constellation Cygnus. The radius of the planet is just 0,57 ± 0,18 from the earth’s mass and less than 90 % of the mass of our planet. One year, one revolution around its star, Kepler-42 d lasts for less than 2 earth days. Continue reading

The planet Jupiter

Jupiter, the fifth in distance from the Sun and the largest planet in the Solar system – distance from Sun-5.2 times further than Earth, and spends some turnover on orbit for almost 12 years. Equatorial diameter of Jupiter is 142 600 km (11 times the diameter of the Earth). The period of rotation of Jupiter is the shortest of all the planets – 9 h 50 min 30 s. at the equator and 9 h. 55 min. 40 s. in the mid-latitudes. Thus, the Jupiter, like the Sun, rotates as a rigid body – rotation speed varies in different latitudes. Because of the rapid rotation of this planet has strong compression at the poles. The mass of Jupiter is equal to 318 Earth masses. The average density of 1.33 g/cm3, which is close to the density of the Sun. The rotation axis of Jupiter is nearly perpendicular to the plane of its orbit. Even in a small telescope shows the polar compression of Jupiter and bands on its surface parallel to the equator of the planet

The Structure Of Jupiter

The visible surface of Jupiter is an upper level clouds surrounding the planet. This ensures that all details on the surface of Jupiter is constantly changing its appearance. From sustainable parts known Great Red spot, observed for over 300 years. It is a huge oval formation, the size of about 35,000 km in longitude and 14000 in latitude between the southern tropicheskii southern temperate bands. Continue reading

The largest planet

What is the biggest planet? This is of course Jupiter. The atmosphere of the biggest planet on Earth reaches 120 degrees Kelvin or minus 153 degrees Celsius. In addition, the atmosphere of the planet consists of 90% hydrogen and 10% helium. Still, astronomers can’t explain why the largest planet in the world has orange, pink, blue and brown spots. And all because at low temperature the atmosphere of Jupiter must be colorless.

There is only the assumption that the color of the clouds is colored by impurities of sulfur compounds. Also worth noting is that the coloring of the clouds is constantly changing. Photo of the largest planet in the form of a Huge red Spot was obtained by Voyager 1 spacecraft. In 1979, he flew over Jupiter at a distance of 9.2 million miles. The Photo shows a red spot too. This is an area that is too complex and variable wave motion.

This Photo of the largest planet Jupiter is considered to be the most clear, which were once obtained from the Earth. On Jupiter there are also storm clouds, as on Earth. This is the state of the atmosphere of Jupiter, you can see in the Photo below. Near the Great red Spot is the area of a riot of clouds. Low clouds are blue and high white. Here wysokiego and represent storm clouds. Scientists say that these clouds can hardly be seen as proof that the biggest planet in the solar system there is water. It is worth noting that on Jupiter winds reach speeds of 480 km/h. Continue reading

Manned mission to Mars

By the end of XX century the mankind will be able to send a manned expedition to the planet Mars. The Soviet Union, the United States and other countries could combine resources to implement joint flight. In 1969 was declared a long-term program of the Soviet Union in the field of manned flights in which was planned the creation of orbital stations and laboratories with departing crews as the primary means of extensive exploration of outer space. They will be the “spaceports in space,” launch pads for flights to other planets. There will be large scientific laboratory for research into space technology and biology, medicine and Geophysics, astronomy and astrophysics.

Academician B. N. Petrov, at that time Chairman of the Council at the USSR Academy of Sciences on international cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space “Intercosmos”, noted that orbital space platforms will carry out the final Assembly of the spacecraft systems to conduct training classes of astronauts, which will be used to space conditions and to participate in the Assembly and testing of interplanetary ships.

In the Soviet Union there is a program capable of deducing in space of the modules of spacecraft and build space stations in earth orbit. Continue reading

10 huge space objects

Of course, the oceans are huge and mountains impress with their value. And seven billion people is a lot, but still. Since we all live on planet Earth (whose diameter is 12 742 km), it is easy to forget how insignificant we really are small. All we need to do is look up at night, the sky, and realize that we are just a bunch of dust in the immeasurable vast Universe.

10. Jupiter. The largest planet (142 984 kilometres in diameter)

Jupiter – the largest planet of our Solar System. Ancient astronomers named Jupiter after the main Roman God. Jupiter is the fifth most close planet to the Sun. The atmosphere of Jupiter consists of about 84 percent hydrogen and about 15 percent helium, with small amounts of acetylene, ammonia, ethane, methane, phosphine, hydrogen and water vapor. Jupiter has a mass 318 times the mass of Earth and a diameter 11 times larger than the diameter of the Earth. The mass of Jupiter is 70% of the total mass of all other planets of our Solar System. The volume of Jupiter is large enough that it could fit 1300 planets the size of Earth. The planet has 63 known satellites (moons) but most of them have very small sizes, and disappear.
